Advanced: Wrap Up :: Due FRIDAY, May 20 :: 10 Points

Typing:

1. Log in to typing.com

2. Click Lessons

3. On Advanced Tab, Click Advanced: Wrap up (this is due FRIDAY, May 20): 10 Pts.

4. Begin Typing (Please DO NOT GO PAST THIS LESSON! It will RESET if you do!)

NOTE!!! No late TYPING will be accepted!!!!

If you are finished or waiting, work on Clever!

  1. Students click on the Clever icon on the desktop

  2. Sign in using the username & password (same as logging into computer)

  3. Click on the square that says iReady

  4. Continue until time is up!

Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

Sign in to Kodu!

SCORING, ENEMIES & HEALTH!!

OPEN KODU

Click the ​Kodu Game Lab​ icon on your desktop!​

Sign in

  • Use YOUR FIRST NAME and LAST INITIAL!

  • Example: John Smith= JohnS

  • Pin: 0102

  • Click the "Keep me signed in when Kodu exits" button!

  • Click OK

BACK TO OUR TEST WORLD....

TO BEGIN...

  • Select MY WORLDS

  • Select TEST WORLD

(This is the world we began last week!)

MOVE CAMERA TOOL...

  • Select the MOVE CAMERA TOOL (Hand)

  • Rotate your world so you can see both terrains side by side and a top view (see left)



TIP! To make the coin bigger, right click the coin and select change size!

ADDING COINS...

  • Using you mouse wheel, Zoom in or out as needed

  • Select the OBJECT TOOL and click anywhere on the terrain

  • Click on the OBJECT Group/Folder

  • Choose COIN

  • Place 15 coins randomly around your world!




  • Right Click and choose COPY

  • Hover your mouse somewhere else

  • Right click and choose PASTE




Lines 2 and 3...

PROGRAM THE CYCLE!

Program the CYCLE to score when it bumps into a coin!

  • Select the OBJECT tool

  • RIGHT CLICK and select PROGRAM

LINE 2

WHEN:

  • BUMPED + COIN

DO:

  • +SCORE + Choose a color team (red) + Points (1)

LINE 3

WHEN:

  • BUMPED + COIN

DO:

  • VANISH (in Combat folder) + IT

PROGRAM THE TREE!

Program the TREE to add the points to WIN the game!

  • Select the OBJECT tool

  • RIGHT CLICK the tree and select PROGRAM (see left)


Change size:


Change color:

ENEMIES....

Add a canon!

  • Select the OBJECT tool

  • LEFT CLICK on the terrain and add a canon


RIGHT click the Canon to change the size (you choose the size)


Use the RIGHT arrow on your keyboard to change the canon color (red)


Program the canon....

  • Select the OBJECT tool

RIGHT click the Canon to PROGRAM

Line 1:

When:

  • SEE + Cycle + Line of Sight

Do:

  • Shoot + Missile + Level


Change settings for CYCLE....

  • Select the OBJECT tool

RIGHT click the CYCLE and select CHANGE SETTINGS

  • Set the MAX HIT POINTS to = 100

ABOVE MAX HIT POINTS....

  • Turn on SHOW HIT POINTS

  • (A green line will appear above Cycle)


Change settings for CANON....

  • Select the OBJECT tool

RIGHT click the Canon and select CHANGE SETTINGS

  • Set the MISSILE DAMAGE to = 25


Move the CYCLE to the road....

  • Select the OBJECT tool

LEFT click the CYCLE (hover over it and wait for it to glow)

Move it to the ROAD


Adding HEARTS for health....

  • Select the OBJECT TOOL and click anywhere on the terrain

  • Click on the OBJECT Group/Folder

  • Add a heart


Make HEART larger....

  • Select the OBJECT tool

  • RIGHT click the HEART

  • Select CHANGE SIZE

  • Make the HEART larger





ADDING ADDITIONAL HEARTS...

  • Using you mouse wheel, Zoom in or out as needed

  • Add 2 more HEARTS randomly around your world!

  • Right Click the HEART and choose COPY

  • Hover your mouse somewhere else

  • Right click and choose PASTE


ESCAPE

PLAY

Press the ESC key (Escape) key on your keyboard to return to the game. It’s time to test out Cycle's movement and scoring etc!


Press the Play button (it’s the triangle to the right of the House icon on the toolbar) and take the Cycle for a spin. Use the ARROW keys to drive him around on the screen to find coins and hearts. Watch out for the canon shooting missiles!
