Typing.com ASSIGNMENT!

Beginner: WrapUp :: Due FRIDAY, December 3 :: 10 Points

Typing:

1. Log in to typing.com

2. Click Lessons

3. On Beginner Tab, Click Beginner: Wrap Up (this is due FRIDAY, December 3): 10 Pts.

4. Begin Typing (Please DO NOT GO PAST THIS LESSON! It will RESET if you do!)

NOTE!!! No late TYPING will be accepted!!!!

If you are finished or waiting, work on Clever!

  1. Students click on the Clever icon on the desktop

  2. Sign in using the username & password (same as logging into computer)

  3. Click on the square that says iReady

  4. Continue until time is up!

Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.

You now have a webengals.com account for Google! Login by going to accounts.google.com/Login

If your school email is abcd@fresnoU.org then your google account will be abcd@webengals.com...You password is the same as your computer/email password!

PUBLISHING YOUR SITE!

Click the PUBLISH button on the top right corner!

Click the MANAGE link under "Who can view my site"

In the next box, under LINKS, select the CHANGE link

Click the small arrow next to Rutherford B Gaston Middle School

Select PUBLIC

Note: This website MUST be available for ALL to view

Select DONE on the bottom right

Select PUBLISH on the bottom right...this will publish your site!

You may also click under Search Settings: "Request public search engines to not display my site" if you do not want to be searchable (this means only those with a link will find it and do not have to be a Gaston Bengal)

COPYING THE LINK TO YOUR SITE!

After your site is published (at least one time), click the COPY PUBLISHED SITE LINK ICON (looks like a link)

Click the COPY LINK button to copy the link to your clipboard!

In order to eventually be graded on your website, YOU MUST PROVIDE A LINK TO YOUR SITE

Click the button (to the right) to submit your link to your website!

Fill out the form (link above) PASTE (CTRL+V) THE LINK TO YOUR WEBSITE in the form!

  • Click SUBMIT on the FORM!

TOTAL = 10 Points for the LINK TO YOUR WEBSITE!

But remember: if you don't give the link, you lose ALL points!

It sets the tone and foundation for a successful website. Don't underestimate the importance of website planning!

Go to your GOOGLE ACCOUNT...Click SITES

Click the website you began!!

You may talk with elbow partners/neighbors to get ideas!

DO NOT RUSH! Think it through!

SECOND PAGE CRITERIA!

  • At least 3 Photos... you can have more! (5 Points)

  • Hyperlink(s) (5 Points) (TIP: hyperlinks can take the viewer to another website or to another page on YOUR website!)

  • Add Text: Try to write 1-3 paragraphs about your site/page. What is this page about? What could you write to enhance the viewer to stay/click? (5 Points)

TOTAL = 15 Points for the SECOND PAGE!

Do you want to interview someone for your website like a teacher?

Send them a chat through TEAMS or an email!

Can't find a photo through Google Image Search?

Click a new tab (+) on your browser, search for an image. Download the image to a folder on your desktop, then UPLOAD the image! (Choose "UPLOAD" instead of "select")

ENTIRE ASSIGNMENT:

Your website MUST...

  • Have THREE (3) pages...no more, no less!

  • Each page MUST contain student gathered facts/text (ie. Interviews/research etc)…Information MUST be written by student and NOT copied from any source including online.

  • Contain hyperlinks to other sites with more information. (2 links minimum!)

  • Have a minimum of THREE (3) photos PER PAGE relevant to the selected topic*

  • Have at least TWO (2) embedded elements: Map, calendar, schedule, or video related to the topic

  • Contain a quiz/form with a minimum of FIVE (5) relevant questions related to the topic

*For this assignment the photos can be found online or taken by student outside of class (with permission of subject.) If student wishes to participate in TOT, student photos will need to be taken ONLY by student.
